(2) What two things did Gunthar do to cheer Therri up? Introducing "Quill to Quill and Heart to Heart"
Yes, yet another new blog! This is a sister blog I've begun to Quill to Quill.
Whereas Quill to Quill focuses on correspondence between the heroines of Loyalty's Web and Illuminations of the Heart, focusing on events that occur after the end of the latter (i.e., after 1179), Quill to Quill and Heart to Heart is designed to answer the question: "What happened next?" to Heléne and Gunthar at the close of Loyalty's Web in 1176.
As with Quill to Quill, Quill to Quill and Heart to Heart is also composed of correspondence, in this case, letters written from Heléne to the three men in her life she most loves: her husband, Hugh de Bury, Earl of Gunthar; her father, Lord Laurant; and her brother, Therri. When royal business draws them apart, Gunthar's letters to Heléne will also appear under the tab, "Quill to Quill: Heléne and Gunthar".
But the tale begins with a letter from Heléne to her father, shortly after her arrival in England as Gunthar's new bride.
